Raclette and Brats? You bet!

Posted by Sonja Hoffmann on

This is a slightly Americanized raclette meal too delicious not to share. At a recent catering for a family gathering I was asked to offer brats as well because the host was worried that not everybody would appreciate the Swiss traditional meal and they wanted to offer something people knew. So here it is, it's not really a recipe, it's just a fresh brat from the BBQ on a bun smothered in raclette cheese. I used the French Livradoux because I like the thick rind on this raclette. See for yourself:

I was told, that the family is still talking about this meal! They all loved it, with and without the brat and I have to say, I like this option with brats too!

You can use your raclette grill to melt the cheese or just use a candle light raclette. Of course melting the cheese off a half wheel has a certain wow effect. If you don't have a raclette melter, you can rent it for your next get together.
